The Museo de Arte de Ponce is pleased to present The Power of Art, its 42nd Annual Gala, inspired by Carlos Betancourt’s Re-Collections VIII (fall) (2009), a work in the Museum’s collection.

In the artwork, fragments of bodies, flowers, objects, gestures, and memories appear suspended against an intense blue expanse, creating a vibrant explosion. No single element dominates. Instead, each contributes to a collective visual universe that is abundant, visceral, chaotic, and alive. This composition evokes an immense concentration of energy suddenly released into space, like an artistic Big Bang in which art becomes both the point of origin and the creative force that sets everything in motion.
