The Museo de Arte de Ponce returns with Happy Art to its headquarters in Ponce

This will be the first edition of the successful event after the 2020 earthquake

(Ponce, Puerto Rico – May 23, 2022) – The Museo de Arte de Ponce announced a new edition of one of its most popular events, Happy Art. A project aimed at bringing the youngest public closer to the Museum. The event will be held at the institution’s headquarters next Thursday, May 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

In this edition, the musical offer will be in charge of the well-known music producer Bairoa, who is part of the group Buscabulla, and Payola who stands out in the local musical environment and is co-founder of the independent radio station known as Radio Red. Both excel in the field of alternative music. Another novelty for this edition is the easy access to acquire the admissions. These are for sale through the www.boyants.com platform in its culture session.

“We want the public, especially the young people of Ponce and the southern area of the island, to return to the Museum. It is time that we begin to open the safe spaces of our institution, which belongs to all Puerto Ricans, so that they can enjoy our offer and learn about our mission with the community. We have seen the public’s interest in visiting us and we are adamant about meeting our goal of stimulating curiosity and discovery through art-based experiences. Certainly, we have physical limitations that we are attending with the due meticulousness required by our Edward Durell Stone building, severely affected by the 2020 earthquake. However, we are focused on achieving a partial opening of the Museum during the summer because we know it is important that our spaces come to life and we continue to promote creativity in the community, while we manage to open our main doors again,” said Cheryl Hartup, Director of the Museo de Arte de Ponce.

As on previous occasions, the gastronomic offer will be in charge of popular food trucks from the southern region of the island that will be located in front of the main entrance of the Jardín Puerto Rico. In addition, there will be parking for attendees in the parking lot of the Law School of the Pontifical Catholic University.

Rubí Rodríguez Bustillo, Deputy Director of Operations and Sustainability of the Museum, assured that the commitment of the sponsors has been crucial for the success of Happy Art. “As on previous occasions, there are many collaborators who this time also believed in our initiative and supported us. We thank Cerveza Magna, Destilería Serrallés, Don Q Cristal and Tito’s Vodka.

The event space will be limited to 500 people. Admission for MAP members is free. Attendees will be able to choose to become partners the same night of the event and contribute to the Museum being able to open its art galleries and thus continue to offer educational programs to the entire community. Memberships start at $25 annually for students and educators, Ponce residents, and individuals over the age of 60. In addition, the Museum offers an annual individual membership for $50 and a family membership for $100.

Likewise, attendees will be able to acquire their pin of this new edition with a donation of $ 1 and continue collecting them, along with the versions of the previous editions. The Happy Cup, a commemorative glass of the activity, will be available, and can be obtained for a donation of $ 5.
